I have a few blogs and the Spam was just out of control. I would sign in to the Admin panel and see that I have 1300 comment to moderate!! Well I got tired of all the Spam so I did some research and found a few Wordpress plugins that say they would help me in fighting spam.

The first plugin that I tried ( and the only one so far) is Akismet. It looks at all of your comments and runs a few tests (Over a hundred I think) to see if the comment is legitimate or not.

Akismet installs very easily in your Wordpress Plugins folder and then you just activate Akismet from the Plugin panel inside Wordpress. You do need an API key which is explained with the instructions, again very easy to do.

I installed Akismet a few days ago and it has taken care of almost 2000 spam comments

So if you have a Spam problem on your Wordpress blog, then check out Akismet.
