The Pay per Click advertisements that appear on the search results page are separated from the normal search results and are placed on the top, bottom, or right side of the page. They usually appear in a colored box on the search results page. In other terms, PPC are called sponsored ads.

The Pay per Click ads are served on the search result pages of the search engines, mainly Google, Yahoo, etc. These sponsored ads are placed on the results pages according to their higher bids. Ads of the advertiser who bid higher for a keyword or phrase is served on the top and those who bid for lower amount receive low rank on the search results pages.

How does Pay per Click work?

The advertiser has to bid for certain keywords or phrases or even category. Those who bid with higher cost of the clicks receive high place on the search results pages. Each time someone clicks on the link of your advertisement you pay for every click. The amount for that click is deducted from your pay per click account so targeting is important.

The PPC advertisement appears only when someone searches at the search engine for the keywords, phrases set up in the system. The payment is done for clicks and not for display. You pay for the click and not for the advertisement to be shown.

How create an account for PPC advertising?

You need to find a search engine and sign up for a PPC account. The basis for choosing the best search engine is your capacity to pay for the clicks and the traffic you want on your website.

While registering for the PPC account, you must provide the following information:

• Your name, address and other details like contact name, address, phone number, e-mail, company name.
• The URL of your site
• You must provide the Keywords that you want to bid on. You must choose the right keywords to bid on so that they generate more revenue for you.
• The maximum amount of money you wish to bid for every keyword
• Your site’s description
• Credit card information for billing purpose.

Once you sign up for the PPC account. The details are checked and an email is sent to you in 4-5 days. Once approved the ads start appearing.

The most important factor in pay-per-click positioning is choosing the right keywords to bid on. First, irrelevant keywords will be rejected, so choose only those keywords that relate to your site's content. Second, relevant keywords mean targeted traffic. Since you're paying every time a searcher clicks on your site, it's crucial to make sure that every click is worth the money.
